Custom Machine Building Built Around What Manufacturers Actually Need

At Tool Tech, we have an internal group of highly skilled designers, toolmakers, control technicians, fabricators, and machinists that handle every aspect of designing and building specialty machines and custom fixtures for manufacturing facilities — including testing apparatuses and ergonomic lifting devices for production lines.

Where most shops stop at machining or fabrication, we go further. We integrate mechanical design, fabrication, and controls into complete assembly and inspection setups, delivering semi-automated solutions that improve ergonomics, cycle time, and line-side throughput. When you bring a problem to Tool Tech, you get one team that owns the entire solution from first sketch to final installation.

With over 30 years of experience building custom machines and fixtures, we understand what manufacturing environments actually demand — tight timelines, exacting tolerances, and equipment that performs reliably from day one.

Our Capabilities

In-House Design & Engineering Our design team works from your drawings, models, or a problem statement using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Logopress3. We run feasibility checks and simulate machine behavior before fabrication begins. Problems caught in design don't reach the production floor.

Mechanical Fabrication & Assembly Our fabricators and toolmakers build every component in-house — machined parts, weldments, structural frames, and precision assemblies. Holding fabrication and machining under one roof means tighter tolerances and faster builds than a shop coordinating multiple outside vendors.

Controls Integration Our control technicians integrate electrical systems, sensors, pneumatics, and automation controls directly into every machine we build. We deliver complete documentation, including electrical schematics and operator instruction manuals, so your team can run and maintain the equipment independently.

Fixture Design & Build We design and build custom fixtures for assembly lines, inspection stations, welding cells, and production jigs. From simple work-holding solutions to complex multi-point locating fixtures, we build to the tolerances your program demands and validate before delivery.

Testing Apparatus & Ergonomic Lifting Devices We build custom test rigs and ergonomic lifting devices for production lines — improving operator safety, reducing fatigue, and increasing throughput. These are often the machines that don't exist off a shelf, and building them is exactly where Tool Tech's in-house depth pays off.

Real Problems, Real Solutions

Automotive OEM Issue: An OEM truck manufacturer had an unsafe, outdated process for bringing frame rails together on the assembly line. They also needed to add newer part variants to the process.

Solution: Tool Tech designed and built a custom machine to automate the process, trained the customer's team on operation, and delivered a full instruction manual and electrical schematic. Result: Increased flexibility and productivity while delivering safer operation and higher part quality.

Fixture Design & Build — EV OEM Issue: An automotive EV OEM building a new production line for electric pickup trucks and vans needed a fixture to hold the chassis as it traveled down the assembly line.

Solution: Tool Tech worked alongside the production line builder and OEM to design and manufacture the chassis fixtures for the production process. Result: Tool Tech's solution exceeded expectations for both quality and delivery to the OEM.

Industries We Serve

Tool Tech serves manufacturers across automotive, aerospace, medical, defense, logistics, and industrial sectors, and we are not limited to any one of them. If your program requires precision tooling, CNC machining, wire EDM, water jet cutting, or custom machine building, our shop has the equipment and experience to handle it. We have served OEM and Tier 1 suppliers, medical device manufacturers, aerospace contractors, and industrial operations from our Springfield facility for over 40 years. If you make parts that require tight tolerances and reliable delivery, we are the right shop.

Your Custom Machine Builder in Springfield, Dayton, and Across Ohio

Tool Tech is located at 4901 Urbana Road in Springfield, Ohio — within easy reach of the Dayton metro, the Columbus corridor, and manufacturers across western and central Ohio. We serve customers who need a shop with genuine in-house depth: designers, toolmakers, control technicians, fabricators, and machinists all under one roof, not a project manager farming work to subcontractors.

If you're an OEM or Tier 1 supplier looking for a custom machine builder or fixture design partner in the Dayton or Springfield area, the difference with Tool Tech is that we are a tooling-first manufacturer. We understand the tolerance stack, the material behavior, and the downstream process in a way a general machine builder typically does not.

We also serve manufacturers further out across Ohio and the broader Midwest who need custom automation equipment or specialty fixtures paired with die tooling, CNC machining, or wire EDM. Fewer vendors, one point of contact, and a shop that has been doing this since 1985.
